Payment provider fees
Each provider’s full pricing, layer by layer, with a calculator for your own payment.
- Card processor Stripe fees Cheapest headline rate inside the EEA and the UK. The 2% conversion markup is where cross-border money quietly leaks — it is charged on top of the card fee, not instead of it. US accounts pay only 1% for conversion.
- Card processor PayPal fees The most expensive common way to receive money internationally. The 3–4% currency markup is applied after the percentage fee, so the two compound.
- Bank transfer Wise Business fees Not a card processor. If your client can pay by bank transfer, this is almost always the cheapest route: conversion happens at the mid-market rate with an explicit fee instead of a hidden spread. Receiving account details cost a one-off €60 to set up.
- Receiving account Payoneer fees Built for marketplace payouts. Charges 1% to receive a transfer from a client, then from 1.2% (up to 4%) to convert on withdrawal — we use the lowest published rate. There is also a $29.95 annual fee under $6,000 a year.
- Bank transfer Revolut Business fees Converts at the interbank rate up to a monthly allowance (€1,000 on the €10/month Basic plan), then charges 0.6% — 1% outside market hours. We use 0.6% so a large invoice is not understated.
- Merchant of record Lemon Squeezy fees The headline 5% + $0.50 looks brutal next to Stripe, but it buys worldwide sales-tax and VAT filing. Buyers outside the US add 1.5%, and payouts to a non-US bank cost 1%.
- Merchant of record Paddle fees The same trade as Lemon Squeezy: a flat 5% + $0.50 and every tax obligation moves off your desk. Paddle states currency conversion and international handling are included in that rate. Priced for SaaS, not for one-off invoices.
- Payments platform Whop fees Stripe-like pricing aimed at creators and digital products: 2.7% + $0.30, plus 1.5% for international cards and 1% when currency is converted. It is not a merchant of record by default: tax handling is a 2% add-on. Withdrawals cost extra per payout ($2.50 next-day ACH, $23 wire, local bank transfer varies by country), which this calculator does not spread over single payments.
